BLINN COLLEGE CELEBRATES 50 YEARS IN THEATRE THIS SEASON

  

The Blinn College-Brenham campus Theatre Arts Program will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year with a five-performance season that includes three plays with connections to the 1960s.

The season will open with Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple," taking place in the 1960s.
The curtain rises on "The Odd Couple" at 7 p.m. Sept. 8-10 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Dr. W.W. O'Donnell Performing Arts Center.

The second performance of the year will be “Jungalbook" by Edward Mast. The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. Oct. 13-15 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 in the O'Donnell Center.

In November, the Theatre Arts Program will host a showcase entitled "Glitter and Gold! 50 Years of Theatre at Blinn College – Brenham." The program will celebrate with performances from current and former students and talented faculty. The show opens at 7 p.m. Nov. 19, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, in the O'Donnell Center.

In February, Blinn will present "Lee Harvey Oswald: A Far Mean Streak of Independence Brought on by Neglect," a play written and produced at the Hampstead Theatre in 1966. The show opens at 7 p.m. Feb. 23-25 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 in the O'Donnell Center.

The final performance of the season will be the annual Theatre Arts Student Showcase, in which students present the acting and technical skills that they have acquired throughout the course of the year. This performance will take place on April 20-21 at 7 p.m. in the O'Donnell Center's MRW Studio Theater.
