BRENHAM MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR ASSAULT
Twenty-seven year old Norman Wayne Gantt of Brenham was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting his wife, stepson and pregnant girlfriend.
Gantt was convicted Thursday of three counts of assault family violence from 2013. Gantt has a previous 2009 domestic violence conviction in Washington County.
On June 9th of that year, Gantt’s stepson told police that Gantt struck him and his mother when he stepped in to defend her, and nine months later, Gantt’s wife told police he punched her in the face and pulling her out of her car.
A third assault occurred in August of 2014 when the pregnant girlfriend reported that Gantt slapped and punched her in the face and stomach.
Assault family violence with previous convictions is a third degree felony and can carry a maximum ten years in prison.
