Four Buccaneer sophomores score in double figures in pivotal victory
BRENHAM, Texas – Blinn College women’s basketball used the balanced scoring attack of four sophomores scoring in double figures to earn an 88-61 victory over Bossier Paris Community College Saturday afternoon inside the P.E. Building

“We played with energy again and we have been playing hard,” said Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins. “I am just glad that we finally played well at home.”
Bossier Parish held a one game advantage on Blinn in the conference standings before the game but the Buccaneers picked up their fourth consecutive victory to improve to 15-6 overall and 7-4 in Region XIV.
Ebony Parker paced the Buccaneers with 26 points that came with the help of eight 3-pointers. Parker was named NJCAA Division I player of the week last week and kept the momentum going Saturday.
Ekiya Gray and Jeliah Preston each finished with 13 points while Penina Faumui did damage in the paint with 10 points and grabbed a number of offensive rebounds to keep possessions alive.

“We are a team that plays well under pressure,” Faumui said. “We were able to get our sophomores to score this game.”
The game stay fairly close for the first seven minutes of the game with Blinn holding a 13-11 lead. The Buccaneers closed the quarter on a 14-5 run fueled by three made 3-pointers from Parker for a 27-16 Blinn lead after one quarter.
That momentum carried over in the second quarter as Blinn opened with an 8-2 run with Faumui scoring two baskets in the paint for a 35-18 lead. Faumui stayed hot in the second with eight points and Gabriella Odom nailed a 3-pointer to cap nine straight points for a 44-21 lead with 3:43 left in the half. Blinn held on to lead 50-29 at the break.
Blinn didn’t create much more separation in the second half but was able to keep its lead intact. Parker nailed three 3-pointers in the third quarter to pace the Buccaneers. Blinn was able to hold a 69-47 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Buccaneers mostly worked on running their offense while chewing up a lot of the shot clock as Blinn looked to slow the pace. Parker hit two early 3-pointers in the fourth as Blinn cruised to the 27-point victory.
Blinn will hit the road Wednesday, Jan. 27 as it will face Paris Junior College at 5:30 p.m.
