COUNCIL APPROVES NEW MUNICIPAL JUDGE; PROSECUTOR

The Brenham City Council has approved a new City Municipal Court Judge and a new City Prosecutor.

Following an extensive Executive Session, the council approved former City Prosecutor Bill Kendall’s selection as the new Municipal Judge, succeeding the late Judge Julian Wiesler, who passed away in January.

With Kendall leaving the City Prosecutor’s post, the council voted to appoint local attorney Jonas Lacina to the post.

Both appointments passed by votes of 6-to-1, with council member Danny Goss casting both “no” votes.

Goss was also the lone dissenting vote on increasing the annual compensation for the judge and prosecutor’s posts.

The annual salary for the Presiding Judge will be $21,000; Associate Judge, $18,000; and City Prosecutor, $18,000.

  1. I know Mr. Lacina to be a good, fair-minded man. His appointment is good for the City and the people who live there.
