FARM LICENSE PLATES HAVE NEW REQUIREMENTS

Texas residents who wish to have farm license plates on their vehicles will have to provide proof that they are eligible to have them.

Drivers with farm plates pay about $20 less per year that non-farm plate drivers.

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles has adopted new eligibility requirements, which involves proving that they have an agricultural number issued by the Texas Comptroller’s office.

Farm plate applicants now must provide their ag/timber number while renewing their farm plate registration either by mail or in person.

Under the new rules, persons with ag/timber cards used for proof of registration must be current, legible, and contain registration number and be in the name of the person of the registering the vehicle.
