FAYETTE COUNTY REPORT

  

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of December 2014. Deputy Rick Bohlmann responded to a welfare concern call for a female in the Cistern area. Investigation resulted in a warrant being issued for her estranged husband for assault family violence. Bohlmann also took a fence damage report near an oil rig location in the Flatonia area.

Deputy Ben Wilson responded to a residence off of Hausmann Gin Road in reference a disturbance between a step-son and step-father. The step-son was arrested for assault family violence. Wilson also responded to US Highway 77 North in reference to a suspected intoxicated driver entering Fayette County from Lee County. Wilson located the vehicle and made a traffic stop. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Deputy Marc Bennett responded to a fence damage call off of US Highway 90 near Schulenburg. Investigation resulted in the vehicle being located responsible for the damages to the fence. The vehicle owner was advised to make contact with the fence owner to take care of the damages.

Investigator Angela Lala took a report of an estray goat that was located on property off of FM 609. The animal is set for sale at Flatonia Livestock if not claimed. Lala also responded to a hay fire in the Round Top area. Round bales caught fire due a previous brush pile that reignited. Investigator Robert Dryden took a report of theft from a well service in the West Point area. It was determined that the origin of the theft occurred in Wharton County. Wharton County authorities were referred the investigation. Dryden also worked an accident involving a vehicle that lost control and struck the concrete barrier on State Highway 71.

Sergeant Charles Jobb responded to Park View Apartments near La Grange in reference to a suspicious vehicle. There a vehicle was found stuck in the yarded area behind the complex. The driver of the vehicle was identified after a hold was placed on the vehicle for identification purposes. The driver took responsibility for the damages and received his vehicle back after paying impound fees. Jobb also worked an ATV accident that occurred on Citzler Road. The driver of the ATV lost control, striking a fence, while traveling between pastures to check cattle. The driver of the ATV was transported by EMS to St. Mark’s Medical Center for non life threatening injuries. Deputy Joshua Berger responded to Reiss Road in reference to a subject threatening suicide. The male was reportedly armed with a gun and in the woods. Berger arrived on location and located the male. The male was unarmed at the time and transported to San Antonio for further mental health treatment. Berger also responded to property off of State Highway 95 for fence damage. A report was taken and the case is currently being investigated.

Deputy David Smith responded to the Kirtley area for a disturbance between a male a female. The male assaulted the female and was arrested for assault family violence. Smith also responded to a suspicious vehicle parked at the intersection of US Highway 90 and Interstate 10. Smith arrived on scene and investigation resulted in the vehicle being a stolen vehicle out of Colorado County. A female occupant in the vehicle was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and she was arrested. Deputy Dusty Bernshausen responded to property off of Goehring Road near Ledbetter for a stolen trailer. A report was taken and the case is currently under investigation. Bernshausen also responded to an address in Winchester for a disturbance. A male subject on scene was found to have assaulted his girlfriend and charges were filed.

Deputy Daitwan Walker responded to a verbal disturbance between two persons at a residence off of State Highway 159 near Fayetteville. The two were separated for the remainder of the night. Deputy Louis Gabler stopped a vehicle near Schulenburg for failure to maintain a single marked lane. The driver of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DWI. Gabler also responded to a disturbance in the La Grange area where a male and female assaulted one another. Both were arrested and charged with family violence.

Deputy Joe Martin responded to property damage to a house in the West Point area. Possible suspects were interviewed. Martin also responded to a medical emergency near Flatonia where a male subject was electrocuted while unloading feed. Deputy Michael Otten stopped a vehicle on State Highway 71 near La Grange for defective lighting equipment. The vehicle was found to be stolen out of Harris County and the driver was arrested for unauthorized use of a stolen vehicle. Another passenger in the vehicle was arrested for public intoxication. Otten stopped another vehicle traveling along Interstate 10 for an equipment violation. Investigation into the stop resulted in the driver providing false information of his identity due to him having an outstanding warrant. The driver was arrested and charged with failure to identify/fugitive from justice.

Deputy Mark Zimmerman responded to a burglary of a residence off of North Kirtley Road. Numerous items were taken and the case is currently under investigation. Zimmerman also stopped a vehicle traveling along US Highway 290 for speeding. The driver was found to have an outstanding warrant from Waller County and was arrested. Deputy Kenn Kretz stopped a vehicle and the driver was wanted on an immigration warrant. The driver was arrested. Deputy Kretz also stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 near Flatonia for traffic violations and the driver was wanted on an out of county warrant. Further investigation resulted in marijuana being located in the vehicle. Sergeant Ron Naumann also assisted Kretz with the investigation and the driver was arrested.

Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 61 individuals for the month of December and transported 5 individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.

Fayette County Deputies traveled 46,836 miles, answering 425 calls for service, and filing 66 incident/offense reports.  Deputies served 51 civil papers, and made 15 felony and 24 misdemeanor arrests.
