FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR AREA COUNTIES

A flash flood watch has been issued for parts of southeast Texas from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Monday, and includes the following counties: Brazos, Burleson, Colorado Grimes, Madison, Waller and Washington Counties .

Widespread heavy rainfall is expected to develop across the region, with rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches. In some areas, rainfall totals could reach 9 to 12 inches, the weather service said.

Rainfall rates Saturday night could exceed 3 inches per hour, according to the weather service, which will lead to street flooding.

The heavier rains are expected to depart the area by Monday morning but the threat of river flooding will linger through the day.
