INVESTIGATION INTO CALDWELL CITY WORKER DEATH CONTINUES

  

The investigation into the death of a Caldwell sanitation worker continues.

Gary Ray Lambert, 65, died on August 17th after being run over by a garbage truck on 6th street in Caldwell.

Authorities are now saying that Lambert was standing on the steps to the right side of the passenger door prior to the accident. The driver of the truck, 58-year-old Francisco Rodriguez, was backing up the truck northbound into a private drive. Lambert had told Rodriguez that it was clear and to back up. It was at this time that Lambert was run over.

It is still unknown what caused the accident, and it is still under investigation. Caldwell Police Chief, Charles Barnes, says that he asked the Texas Department of Safety to investigate the incident as a third party.

Caldwell City Administrator, Johnny Price, says that the incident has not caused the city to change any of its procedures. He went on to say that the incident was a “tragic accident”.

A memorial service for Lambert was held on August 20th.
