LOCAL SALES TAX REBATES UP

  

Monthly sales tax rebates for the cities of Brenham and Burton, as well as Washington County all increased this month.

Numbers released by the Texas Comptroller’s office show Brenham’s May rebate was just over $583,000—that’s up 10 percent from a year ago.  The city’s payments so far this year total $2.6-million, an 8.5 percent increase from this same time in 2014. .=

Washington County’s rebate was $232,000—up 5.7 percent from last May’s $220,000.  Payments for the year total just over $1-million, up 5.1 percent from last year.

Burton received $3,100, which is up 32.1 percent from last year’s $2,370. Burton has received $13,300, down 5.3 percent for the year

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said that state sales tax revenue was $2.3 billion, up 1.1 percent compared to 2014.
