Dr. Barbara Pearson spent 37 years at Blinn in a number of positions.  She was 75.

Pearson, who retired as vice president in 2012, began as a history teacher and later was the campus bookstore manager and an academic adviser.

Pearson became the Bryan campus director in 1991 when Blinn was still housed in the former Townshire shopping center on Texas Avenue.

She was promoted to Blinn vice-president in 1995 and continued in that role until she retired in 2012.

Blinn released the following statement regarding her passing:

"Blinn College is saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Barbara Pearson. Dr. Pearson committed 37 years to Blinn College students as a history teacher, bookstore manager, academic advisor, assistant campus director, campus director, and vice president. Her kindness, generosity, and commitment to students helped to make the Blinn-Bryan Campus what it is today, and her incredible legacy lives on in every student who finds success at Blinn College.

Pearson was also active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation and Wells Fargo Bank as well as a member of the Rotary, League of Women Voters and Phi Theta Kappa.
