MAN ARRESTED ON GUN CHARGE AND DWI

  

A Houston man is behind bars in Brenham after his arrest on DWI and weapons charges.

Early this (Tuesday) morning, Officer Hunger Andras was dispatched to the 1100 block of US 290 W in reference to a welfare concern.   The caller said a white jeep was parked in the middle of the roadway.

Andras located the vehicle, which was stopped in the left lane of traffic with its left turn signal on.

Andras says the car was in park and when the driver, 45-year old Rabih Hasan Akbar of Houston, opened the driver’s side door Andras could smell the strong odor of alcohol.

Akbar told Andras he was pulled over because he was tired.

Andras found a six pack of beer with five missing. He also found a handgun within reach of the driver.

Akbar is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.
