McCAUL WANTS INVESTIGATION INTO SECRET SERVICE

  

Local U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul is calling for a comprehensive review of the Secret Service in the wake of the resignation of Director Julia Pierson, Wednesday.

McCaul, who represents Washington County in our nation’s capital, says the country needs “a full top-to-bottom review of the Secret Service”.

McCaul went on to say that he will soon introduce legislation to establish an independent panel to conduct this comprehensive assessment.

He says the panel will recommend specific steps the agency can take in order to ensure it has—in his words, “the best possible leadership structure, culture, protocols, training, tools and resources to meet its missions.”

McCaul says he’s hopeful the resignation of Pierson will be the beginning of a new chapter for Secret Service, but goes on to say he believes, “the growing list of failures from USSS seems to be more pervasive than just its leadership.”
