MOVIE PROP BILLS POPPING UP IN FAYETTE COUNTY

Fake bills normally used for movies, magic, or other entertainment reasons have been getting passed off as real currency recently in Fayette County.

The La Grange Police Chief, David Gilbreath suggested his officers have collected approximately $360 worth of the phony bills, with the $100s and $20s primarily used as motion picture money.

The hundreds have the blue ribbon appearance the newest hundreds are famous for. While the bills appear realistic at first glance, there are pretty strong differences when studied. First, they are clearly marked “For Motion Picture Use Only” in several different areas across the bill.In La Grange, 3 businesses have already fallen victim to accepting the false currency. Retails across the area are urged to pay close attention to the bills they receive. Often the faces of the presidents will be off, especially around the mouth.Gilbreath pointed out that every time someone uses one, they can “get $80” in valid money back in change.

Gilbreath has been in contact with the U.S. Secret service, who are responsible for crimes involving U.S. currency. The Secret Service informed him that the bills have also been circulating in the Houston area as well.

Anyone who has received the bills is encourage to contact their local Police Department, or Crimestoppers.
