RECORDS FALL AT LEE CO. JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION

  

Six records fell at Saturday’s Lee County Junior Livestock Auction in Giddings.

The highest price paid was for the Grand Champion Steer, shown by Emma Beard of the Lexington FFA.  Pumpco paid $17,000 for the steer – a new auction record.

Also breaking records:

The grand champion hog, shown by Kelly Shows of the Dime Box 4H, sold for $10,500.

The grand champion goat, shown by Whitney Whitsell of the Giddings FFA, sold for $15,000.

The grand champion lamb, shown by Tyler Robertson of the Lincoln 4H, sold for $11,000.

The grand champion broilers shown by Logan Marek of the Northwest Lee Co. 4H, sold for $9,000.

And, the grand champion rabbits, shown by Sydni Havel of the Serbin 4H, sold for $5,200.

Among the other grand champions:

The commercial bred heifers, shown by Kelly Shows of the Dime Box 4H, sold for $14,999.

The commercial open heifers, shown by Cody Gill of the Giddings 4H, sold for $7,000.

The grand champion regular cake, shown by Lettie Morris of the Northwest 4H, sold for $2,400.

And, the decorated cake, shown by Heather Exner of the Lexington 4H, sold for $1600.

The total amount spent at this year’s auction was  $674,648, just slightly less than last year’s total of $674,741.
