LOCAL SALES TAX REBATES DROP IN DECEMBER

  

Sales tax rebates continued to fall in Brenham and Washington County this month.

Brenham received $502,517, which is down 2.8 percent from the same time last year. For 2016, the city received $6,190,892. That number is down 2.6 percent from the $6,360,034 it got during the same time last year.

Washington County saw a 4.9 percent decline in its December rebate, totaling $203,412. For this year, the county received $2,504,564, which is down 3.2 percent from 2015’s $2,586,801.

Burton’s sales tax rebate for December was 3.9 percent down from 2015, landing at $3,528. However, the city’s rebate for the year is $39,804, which is up 25.5 percent from 2015’s $31,703.
