SOMERVILLE ISD GETS T.E.A. WARNING

The Somerville school district has been notified by the Texas Education Agency that they are not in good standing for accreditation.

The TEA recently issued a letter telling Somerville ISD officials their status has been changed to Accredited—Warned.

The new status means the district has exhibited deficiencies in performance that could lead to probation or revocation of accreditation status if not addressed.

Somerville superintendent Charles Camarillo says they were notified back in March, about the change in status.

The Somerville district failed to meet the accountability rating standard for the past two years, receiving Improvement Required ratings for 2014 and 2015.

Somerville officials say they frilled in the area of post-secondary readiness.

Camarillo says if the STAAR test scores for 2015-16 show the district has passed, the status would be reset.
