Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Director Suanna Tumlinson resigned from the co-op’s board of directors. Tumlinson, who represents District 2, Travis County, on the 11-member board of directors, will continue to serve on the board until Dec. 31, 2017.

“It has been one of my greatest joys and privileges to serve Bluebonnet’s members on the board of directors,” Tumlinson said. “However, recent changes in my professional and personal life make it necessary for me to resign from the board. I will forever treasure the friendships I made with my fellow directors and Bluebonnet’s employees and members.”

Tumlinson joined Bluebonnet’s board in January 2011. She and her husband, Kenneth, are from Manor, where they built KST Electric into one of the most successful, largest privately owned electrical consulting and teledata companies in the United States. The Tumlinsons sold their business to California-based Rosendin Electric in 2010, but stayed with the company until 2013. They started Tumlinson Electric LLC in March 2016.

“Suanna has contributed so much to Bluebonnet’s success during her time on the board,” said Ben Flencher, Bluebonnet’s chairman. “The electric co-op business isn’t an easy one to master, but because of her knowledge of business and technology Suanna made it look easy. She will be greatly missed. We wish her and Kenneth the best in their future endeavors.”

Bluebonnet will accept applications to fill the District 2 seat through 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20, 2017. To be considered for the seat, an applicant must have primary residence in Travis County for at least six months and meet all eligibility requirements in the co-op’s bylaws.

The eligibility requirements for Bluebonnet’s board of directors and the Application for Nomination form are on the co-op’s website, bluebonnet.coop, and can be accessed by hovering the cursor over the About tab, clicking on Leadership, then clicking on Becoming a Director.  The Application for Nomination form also is available at Bluebonnet’s five member service centers in Bastrop, Brenham, Giddings, Lockhart or Manor.

Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, and include either a certified check or money order for the $250 filing fee or a petition with at least 50 signatures from co-op members with meters in Travis County. Applications may be submitted in person at a member service center in Bastrop, Brenham, Giddings, Lockhart or Manor, or emailed to Bluebonnet’s General Counsel Sarah Newman-Altamirano at sarah.newman-altamirano@bluebonnet.coop. If a candidate submits his or her application by email, the signature petitions or $250 filing fee must be delivered in person to one of the member service centers or mailed (postmarked no later than Oct. 20, 2017) to P.O. Box 729, Bastrop, Texas, 78602.

After reviewing eligible candidates’ applications, a five-member committee made up of Bluebonnet’s directors may interview the top candidates before making a recommendation to the full board of directors. The board will vote to appoint the new director during its December meeting.
