One of the biggest fundraising events for college-bound Washington County students is set for next weekend.

The Washington County Go Texan Fundraiser is happening at La Bahia Hall in Burton on January 27th and 28th. There will be both live and silent auctions, as well as a BBQ Cook-Off featuring brisket, chicken, ribs, and chefs choice.

Event organizer Robert Weiss says Washington County Go Texan has raised over three quarters of a million dollars for local students:

In addition to the cook-off, a bloody mary and margarita contest will take place. Saturday night also features a dance with music by Jeff Woolsey and the Dance Hall Kings. Tickets are $15 at the door.
