WATER BOIL NOTICE IN EFFECT FOR NORTHEAST WASHINGTON COUNTY

A Boil Water notice is in effect in a part of Washington County.

On Thursday morning, “Corix Utilities (formerly Bluebonnet Rural Water Corp.)/Northeast Washington County Water System began experiencing a water outage Thursday morning affecting a large portion of the service area and a BOIL WATER NOTICE was issued until further notice.

This is notification the BOIL WATER NOTICE IS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  We expect to obtain the proper chemical samples to the laboratory tomorrow and we will notify you when these results are received.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.  To ensure the destruction of harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption.

The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.  In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify you through this same media.”

  2. Just now learning of this. Saw it on a Facebook Garage Sale page of all places. This is irresponsible and negligent! What an absolutely horrible notifications system. I just called and spoke to the answering service and the guy didn’t know anything. Planning to make a call to The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on Monday morning.

  3. Thank you, KWHI.com! Otherwise we wouldn’t have known. Corix is a branch of a huge Canadian corporation. This incident seems to indicate they don’t care much about informing their customers when their product may be unsafe.
    Please keep us updated!

  4. Are u kidding me? ! It’s Friday night & I just hear about this! I have 4 kids! I bet no one in this company lives here! COMMUNICATION PLEASE!! AWFUL!

  5. It would be really nice if they would give an update, or a description of which roads / which areas, or they would call their members.

  6. Two breaks two days which brake is tthe notice for we drank water after the first brake Thursday

  7. Too bad they didn’t let customers know about this problem in other ways, since not everyone uses KWHI on a daily basis. Robo calls like Entergy does would have been helpful. Used water all day. Did not know about this problem until after 8pm. Not happy with this company..

    1. I’m just learning of this now (Friday morning) and I have a special needs child with a weak immune system.
