A Hempstead woman was arrested by Brenham police at 3 AM Sunday morning for driving while intoxicated with children in her vehicle.  Apparently, the woman had an accident on Gun and Rod Road, and then drove to the emergency room with her injured children.  While the children were being treated, the mother was questioned by officer Heather Sowders.  The mother admitted that she was driving home when she had a wreck and that she’d had a couple of drinks.  Officer Sowders conducted a field sobriety test which the driver was unable to complete.  Arrested and charged with three counts of driving while intoxicated with a child was Amy Renae Ragston, age 29 of Hempstead.

In another DWI incident over the weekend, Cpl. Steven Eilert saw a vehicle stuck in an open lot on Alamo Street Saturday evening.  When he approached the vehicle, he could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath and the driver admitted he was impaired.  Arrested and charged with DWI second offence was Charleston Warren Hink, age 45 of Chappell Hill.
