CITY COUNCIL RECOGNIZES EMPLOYEES FOR 20 YEARS WITH THE CITY
During the Brenham City Council meeting this afternoon (Thursday), two city employees were recognized for their years of service to Brenham. Jason Derrick was recognized for 20 years with the Police Department and Lorenzo Moreno for 20 years with the Recycling Center.
The council approved a tax phase-in agreement with Valmont Coatings as they move forward with plans to locate a galvanizing plant in Brenham to serve the local Valmont Structures facility as well as other metal-based businesses in the region. City of Brenham Project Manager, Clint Kolby projects this bringing many jobs to the area.
Valmont officials say the move would help them invest in equipment and jobs to help offset initial costs of locating the expansion project to Brenham.
Council approved of a noise variance request from Washington County Ministerial Alliance for a Good Friday Community Worship service. The worship service will take place on March 25th at 3pm at Hattie Mae Flowers Park.
A lease agreement with Jeff Aubihl for the lease of 9.45 acres on Old Independence Road was approved as well as a 5 year contract to Progressive Waste Solutions collection services for the City of Brenham beginning on May 24th of this year. Progressive not only provided rates that were lower than the other four proposals but the rates submitted were also under the current rates being charged today.
City Council also accepted the audit from Seidel Schroeder for Fiscal Year 2015 as well as a ground lease agreement for hangar space at the Brenham Municipal Airport.
