FAYETTE CO. COUNTRY MUSIC CLUB PRESENTS HANK WILLIAMS SR. TRIBUTE
The Fayette County Country Music Club Opry will host their annual tribute to Hank Williams on Monday, September 19th.
The show will be held at the KC Hall in La Grange at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

Hank Williams Sr. walked onto the stage of the Ryman Auditorium for his Grand Ole Opry debut in June of 1949. Behind him lay nearly a decade of struggle and rejection in pursuit of this goal, while ahead of him was little more than 5 years in the limelight. By 1953, worn out at the age of twenty-nine, Hank Williams was gone. He left behind a legacy, giving country music much of its standard repertoire. Williams created a new definition of stardom and a legend so enduring that he is still the model for countless singers and songwriters.
This Opry performance will feature Jake Penrod, the King of Texas Twang. Penrod is a stark traditionalist, and has an uncanny resemblance to Hank Williams. He describes his singing style as sounding like “Hank Williams’ and Kitty Wells’ love child,” He is a former member of the Gladewater Texas Opry and has played many shows all over the state.
In 2007 he received word that a theatre in New York was producing Hank Williams Lost Highway and they needed someone to be “Hank”. After submitting a CD and photo, he was hired. Since then he has performed as Hank Williams on numerous legends tribute shows.
Jake has opened shows for many great entertainers such as Ray Price, Moe Bandy, Tony Booth, Leona Williams Jake Hooker, Bobby Flores, Johnny Bush, Darrel McCall and Curtis Potter. He is a prolific songwriter and composer and has written more than 100 country songs. He has been featured on such television programs as RFDTV’s TruCountry, Texas County Line and currently appears weekly on Rural TV’s Texas Picking Party as a vocalist and steel guitar player for the band.
The Hank Williams Tribute Show starts at 7:30 P.M. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. at the KC Hall in La Grange. Admission is $5.00.
