BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO APPOINT JUDGES AND CITY PROSECUTOR

  

The Brenham City Council will hold an executive session today to discuss the reappointment of the Brenham Municipal Court Presiding Judge and the Associate Judge.  

The offices of presiding judge of municipal court and associate judge are two year appointments and the term for each is expiring at the end of the month.

City Manager Terry Roberts says he anticipates Judge Bill Kendall and Associate Judge Robert Wright will be reappointed.  City Prosecutor Russell Noe is also expected to be reappointed. The reappointment and salary changes, if any, will be done in open session.

In other business, the council will consider adopting a new fee schedule for the City of Brenham’s Parks and Recreation Department. The City of Brenham publishes a Parks and Recreation Guide for visitors and residents as a reference for the City’s recreational community services offerings. While many of the Parks and Recreation amenities and programs are offered to the public at no cost, there are fees for services such as: facility rentals, admission to the BBAC, swim lessons and classes and other recreational programming.

The council will also consider a lease agreement for the management and operation of the Barnhill Center. The lease will be between the City of Brenham and Simon Theater Master Tenant, LLC which is a holding of Brenham Main Street Historic Preservation, Inc. - the owner and current operator of the Barnhill Center at the Historic Simon Theatre.

The council will discuss a change order for the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library renovation. There were three change orders to the project that brought the total cost of the construction contract with Collier Construction to $3,228,915.27.

The council will also discuss and possibly act upon its first reading of amending the 2015-2016 adopted budget.

Brenham City Council will meet at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) in the second floor council chambers of city hall.
