CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS MUSEUM & THEATER AT THURSDAY MEETING

Brenham Heritage Museum

The Brenham Heritage Museum and the Simon Theater top the agenda for Thursday’s Brenham City Council meeting.

The two downtown landmarks will be discussed during the work session of the council’s meeting at City Hall, Thursday afternoon.

Following the consent agenda, the council will hold a work session, where they will be given an update by City Attorney Carey Bovey on a revised draft lease agreement between the city and the museum.  The museum has been closed since August of last year due to electrical code violations and other problems.

The museum has been hosting events and displays at the old downtown bus depot.

Bovey will then update the Council on a revised draft lease agreement for the Barnhill Center at the Historic Simon Theater.

The agreement is between the city and the Simon Theater Master Tenant L.L.C.

Both items appear on the Council’s work session and again later in the meeting, behind closed doors, in Executive Session.

During the Regular Agenda, the Council will take on several routine items concerning Hot Nights/Cool Tunes.

The Council is expected to approve a noise variance and the temporary closure of the State Right of Way in downtown Brenham for the annual summer music series.

While in executive session, the Council will also evaluate the job performance of the City Attorney Carey Bovey.

The Brenham City Council meets Thursday at 1:00 at Brenham City Hall..
