Blinn police have taken a suspect into custody, following an assault at the Blinn College Park Apartments Thursday night.

Blinn College sent out an all-campus alert around 8:15 p.m., saying police were investigating a possible weapon at the third building of the apartments on Saeger Street, on the Brenham campus.  Authorities cautioned people to avoid the area.

Officials from the Blinn and Brenham Police Departments, along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, took 19-year-old Deeandre Dajour-Malik McGee of Corpus Christi into custody.

According to Communications Director Richard Bray, McGee was attending Blinn, and in a relationship with another student there.  He came to her apartment Thursday night and assaulted her.  McGee was charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury with Impeding Breath.  He was also issued a Criminal Trespass warning.

Shortly afterwards, authorities sent a follow-up notice saying a suspect was in custody, and they had secured the area.

Bray says McGee has been moved out of campus housing, and will not be able to take courses on campus until the case is resolved.  He is being held at the Washington County Jail.
