WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS BUDGET, EMS

Washington County Commissioners will meet Tuesday to hear public comment on their proposed 2019 budget.

The new budget is expected to raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget, by $592,577, or 3.677 percent.  Approximately $341,323 of that is revenue to be raised from new property on the tax roll this year.

The county will take a record vote to approve adoption of the budget, as well as ratify the property tax increase shown in the budget.

In addition, they will take a vote on approving an order levying the county’s property tax rate for 2018.

In addition, the court will look at approving an EMS Medical Director Agreement between the county and Baylor Scott and White Clinic.

Prior to the Brenham Clinic joining Baylor Scott and White, the county had a contract with the College Station Medical Center, the previous owner of the Brenham Clinic.

According to County Judge John Brieden, Dr. William Loesch will continue to be the lead medical director, as the contract details are essentially the same, just with a different medical provider.

The court will also look to authorize the EMS Department to have an ambulance module remounted by Frazer, a state contract vendor.  Commissioners approved the purchase and installation of a new chassis at their August 7th meeting.  Brieden says Frazer will take the box off of the old ambulance chassis, recondition it, and mount it onto the new chassis.

Commissioners will also look to renew the service agreement between the county and Appriss, Inc., for the Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) program.  VINE allows crime victims to be notified when information about relevant criminal cases becomes available.

At their meeting on August 21st, they approved a grant contract with the Attorney General’s Office worth nearly $17,000, for the statewide automated victim notification service. The grant comes from the state and goes to the network.

The court will also discuss the approval of mass gathering and right of way permits, for the Real Deal Trail Ride to be held on Gibbs Creek Road.

Commissioners will also hear monthly reports from the Sheriff’s Office, Washington County 911, IT Department, EMS, and Veteran’s Service Officer.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
