CORBIN BROOKS WINS WASHINGTON CO. SPELLING BEE

The 64th annual Washington County Spelling Bee came down to a battle between Aidan Keller, a 6th grader from St. Paul’s Christian Day School, Garrison Colvin, a 6th grader from First Baptist Church School and Corbin Brooks, a 2nd grader from Krause Elementary School.  After 16 rounds, the other 23 spellers had all faltered.  The final three contestants knew they would each advance on to the Regional Bee next month, but the Washington County winner still needed to be determined.  Aidan Keller, faltered on the word “Commensurate”.  Next, Garrison Colvin, stumbled on the word “Camouflage”.  Now, Corbin Brooks had to spell “Camouflage” along with another word to win the bee:

The 3rd place winner, Aidan Keller, is the son of Jill and Brandon Keller.  2nd place winner, Garrison Covin, is the son of Charles and Bonnie Covin and was the winner of last year’s Spelling Bee.  The winner of the 2019 Washington County Spelling Bee, Corbin Brooks, is the son of Bill and Carol Brooks.  The top 3 finishers each received a cash prize from Spelling Bee sponsor KWHI and will advance on to the Regional Bee in College Station in February.

The 2019 Washington County Spelling Bee winners: (L to R) 1st Place- Corbin Brooks, 2nd Place- Garrison Covin, and 3rd Place- Aidan Keller.
