SPRING CLEANUP EVENT BEGINS THURSDAY FOR WASHINGTON CO. RESIDENTS
Starting tomorrow (Thursday), Washington County residents can take part in the annual Spring Cleanup Event.
The event gives Brenham and Washington County residents the opportunity to get rid of their refuse for free. City residents participated last month.
The Citizens Collection Station on Old Chappell Hill Road will offer disposal this Thursday through Saturday.
The open collection event is only for non-hazardous materials and non-commercial customers. Customers need to show proof of residence and ID upon arrival.
The first 500 pounds of debris per household can be dumped at no charge. Anything over that will be charged at the full rate. Currently, the collection station charges $90 per ton of non-compactible debris, and $22.50 per ton of brush and yard waste.
Appliances with coolant will be assessed a $20 removal fee prior to drop-off. Tires will be taken at the normal gate rate. Household computers will be accepted, but large quantities of computers will be turned away. Propane tanks and loads with cement, dirt, and/or bricks will be rejected.
Business hours for the Citizens Collection Station are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
