A&M RELLIS TO HOST ARMY RESEARCH/TESTING FACILITY

The Texas A&M Rellis campus could play a big part in the future of the U.S. Army.

Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp has announced the creation of a $130 million combat development complex on the Bryan campus.

A groundbreaking is set for this fall on a facility for the U.S. Army Futures Command for testing and evaluation of future technology.

The Chief of Army Futures Command, General John Murray, says the new facility will be focused on making sure that future soldiers have the equipment, tactics and the operational schemes they need to win on the battlefield.

Leaders with A&M say the new building will include laboratories, accelerator space, and offices for the Army Futures Command.  Researchers will work to shorten the time it takes to get emerging tech from the lab and into the field, while getting feedback from the soldiers who will use the technology.

The Texas A&M Board of Regents is set to vote Thursday to begin design and construction.

  1. This in addition the the even larger new one in Austin. Stock market and corporations lovin’ the military industrial complex. Big profits. And the average worker is paying the bill. But hey, what’s a few for trillion for the defense dept. budget when they can’t account for billions. Have a little time, listen to President Dwight Eisenhower’s farewell speech to the nation and process what you hear.
