COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS HOT TAX, TUESDAY

Washington County Commissioners are once-again scheduled hold their weekly meeting via virtual media.

The meeting held via Zoom, will take place Tuesday morning at 9:00.

During the meeting, commissioners will discuss the possibility of deferring the hotel occupancy tax for 90 days.

A request has been made by numerous hotel owners in the area to defer paying the tax during this time of little or no business.  They say such a move would help appropriate money to other areas of their business.

A public hearing will also be held in connection with the county’s application for funds from the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program for gas system improvements.

They are also expected to approve the County Engineer’s report on the 2018-19 Road Report.

There will also be a workshop to discuss the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.  The bill provides paid sick leave, tax credits, and free COVID-19 testing; expanding food assistance and unemployment benefits; and increasing Medicaid funding.
