WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO MEET ‘IN-PERSON’ TUESDAY

The highly publicized and controversial jail medical director post will be addressed Tuesday, when Washington County Commissioners meet, in-person, at the County Courthouse.

County Judge John Durrenberger says members of the Commissioners Court preferred to meet in-person, due to a workshop on the medical director’s position.

Durrenberger says social distancing will be observed at the meeting.

Earlier this month, Dr. Stuart Yoffe was approved as the interim medical director for the Washington County Jail.  The move was made after a lengthy back-and-forth between commissioners and Sheriff Otto Hanak, after current jail medical director, Robert Stark M.D. was banned from the jail by Hanak.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting:

Commissioners will vote on an agreement for federal reimbursement program for Child Protective Services work with Justice Benefits, Incorporated.

Vote on a request by Washington County Engineering and Development Services for the purchase of two Smart TV’s for the department.

And hear various monthly reports from county offices.

Washington County Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
