WASHINGTON CO. REPORTS 27TH COVID-19 DEATH; ACTIVE CASES NOW LESS THAN HALF OF TOTAL CASES

  

Washington County reported its 27th COVID-19 patient death Monday along with two new confirmed cases, but the county’s active cases now make up less than half of its total cases.

Monday’s cases, which brought the county’s total case count to 205, were confirmed in two men in their 60s, both from Burton.  One of the new cases was reported in an employee at the Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (BNRC), which also confirmed Monday’s death.  To date, 24 of the county’s 27 deaths have been linked to the facility.

The BNRC also reported 11 patient recoveries, bringing the county’s recovery count up to 82.  The recoveries dropped the county’s active case count to 96, with six patients still hospitalized.

At the BNRC, 111 positive cases have been reported, made up of 87 residents and now 24 employees.  Fifty-seven of the facility’s cases are active, with one patient hospitalized, while 30 patients have recovered.

As of Monday, the county has performed an estimated 2,162 COVID-19 tests, 223 of those at the BNRC.
