ASTROS TO USE U OF H FACILITIES FOR SOME PRE-SEASON WORKOUTS

In an effort to socially distance Astros players and staff, the team will use both Minute Maid Park and baseball facilities at the University of Houston.

Astros general manager James Click announced Monday the team is using UH facilities as an alternate workout site once players return to the field for spring training this week.

About 30 of the 56 players announced in the initial player pool will work out at UH's Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Shroeder Park, as well as the new Houston Baseball Development Center.

UH moved into the 20,000 square foot development center in February. It features indoor batting cages, pitching mounds, an agility field and weight room.

The Astros are scheduled to use the facility from around July 2-24.
