WASHINGTON CO. FIRST RESPONDERS RECEIVE BRENHAM AMERICAN LEGION AWARDS
Outstanding first responders in Washington County were recognized earlier this month by American Legion Post 48 in Brenham.
Morong were recognized recently at a ceremony at
American Legion Post 48 as the respective Deputy,
Firefighter and Officer of the Year. Not pictured but also
recognized was EMS Paramedic of the Year, Zephaniah
Putnam.

Each year, the American Legion presents awards to members of the Brenham Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Brenham Fire Department and Washington County EMS to celebrate their service.
Detective Bryan Morong was named Officer of the Year from the Brenham Police Department.
Deputy Jacob Faske was chosen as the Deputy of the Year from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Gene Swonke of the Brenham Fire Department was recognized as Firefighter of the Year.
Zephaniah Putnam was selected as the Washington County EMS Paramedic of the Year.
The awards go to first responders who exceed the duty requirements of their positions, demonstrate teamwork and collaboration, and showcase dedication to the community.
