The Astros played home run derby as they pounded the Colorado Rockies in Denver, 13-6, Wednesday night.

Houston got home runs from George Springer (4), Carlos Correa (3), Martin Moldonado (3) and Kyle Tucker (3).  Tucker also had a pair of triples while driving in four runs.

Framber Valdez (2-2) went 7-and-a-third innings to pick up the win, giving up just one run on seven hits and striking out seven.

The Astros will close out their two-game set in Denver, Thursday afternoon.  Houston (14-10) has now won eight of their last nine games and trail Oakland by just 2.5 games in the AL West.

The Astros got some bad news Wednesday, as slugger Yordan Alvarez, last year’s AL Rookie of the Year, will miss the rest of the 2020 season.

Alvarez suffered a partial tear in the patellar tendon of his right knee.

Alvarez is scheduled to undergo surgery next week.  Manager Dusty Baker said he’s expected to make a full recovery.

Manny Machado blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the 10th, giving San Diego a 6-3 win over the Rangers.

The Rangers sent the game into extra innings in the top of the ninth on Joey Gallo’s 7th home run of the season.

The Rangers took a 3-2 lead in the tenth on Willie Calhoun’s infield single, but left the bases loaded.  That would come back to haunt them, as the Padres loaded the bases prior to Moldonado’s sixth homer of the year off Ranger reliever Rafael Montero (0-1).

The Rangers will close out their set at San Diego, Thursday at 7:10 (CDT).
