ACTIVE COVID-19 CASES IN WASHINGTON CO. DROP BELOW 40; 490 RECOVERIES REPORTED

As Washington County heads into the Labor Day holiday, COVID-19 cases are trending positively.

The Washington County Joint Information Center (JIC) reports that, as of today (Friday), the county has 575 positive cases, 38 active cases, 490 recoveries, and 45 deaths.  While the county’s total number of cases increased by 15 and an additional death was reported since last Friday, the county has also added 28 recoveries and subtracted 17 active cases since then.

As of Thursday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the county has performed a cumulative total of 4,504 COVID-19 tests.

County Judge John Durrenberger said all those working to mitigate COVID-19 in the county “continue to be pleased with the increased number of recoveries and the decrease in active cases” locally.  He thanked the people living and working in the county for their cooperation in keeping others safe and healthy.

Brenham Mayor Milton Tate said as the holiday weekend approaches, it is important that residents continue to follow the local, state, and federal safety measures that have kept the community healthy.

For residents that may be travelling this weekend, the JIC reminds them to wear masks in public, socially distance, and follow the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to minimize their risk of exposure to the coronavirus.  JIC officials say the community continues to see a reduction in active cases, and ask that everyone does their part to keep the county healthy.
