U.S. 10TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT CANDIDATES TO SQUARE OFF TUESDAY
Voters will have one final chance to cast their ballots tomorrow (Tuesday) for one of many races in the general election, including the contested race for U.S. Representative of District 10.
Running in the race are Republican incumbent Michael McCaul and Democrat Mike Siegel. District 10 stretches from Austin to northwest Houston and includes Austin, Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette, Harris, Lee, Travis, Washington and Waller Counties.
McCaul, who is serving his eighth term representing Texas’ 10th Congressional District, says his ability to work with others has been very important during his time in Congress.
At the start of the 116th Congress, McCaul became the Republican leader of the Foreign Affairs Committee, which considers legislation that impacts the diplomatic community. He also served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security during the 113th, 115th, and 116th Congresses. Prior to Congress, he served as Chief of Counter Terrorism and National Security in the U.S. Attorney’s office, Western District of Texas.
Siegel says, if he is elected, he will make it an immediate priority to meet with his constituents and figure out how to best serve them.
Siegel is a civil rights lawyer and former public school teacher. He began his career in 1999, joining the Americorps national civil service program and teaching 3rd grade as a Teach for America corps member. After attending law school, he worked as a plaintiff-side employment lawyer, and most recently served as an Austin city attorney, representing the city in lawsuits against the State of Texas.
