BEN SEEKER TO BE FEATURED SPEAKER FOR VETERANS DAY PROGRAM ON KWHI

Local veteran Ben Seeker will be the featured speaker for this year’s radio-only Veterans Day program on KWHI.

Ben Seeker

Seeker, Commander of Brenham’s James F. Dillon VFW Post 7104, President of the Washington County Veterans Association (WCVA), and a member of the Brenham Honor Guard, will speak for the program, beginning Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. on AM 1280 and FM 101.7.  The program, conducted by the combined veterans organizations of Washington County, will feature patriotic music and messages from local elected officials.

Seeker served in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer in both the Infantry and Military Intelligence.  He served from 1970-72 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Holabird, Maryland; and The Presidio in San Francisco, California.

Seeker also served in the Vietnam War.  In Vietnam, he received the Joint Service Commendation Medal while serving in the Combined Intelligence Center.

VFW Post 7104 has achieved all-state recognition four years in a row while Seeker has served as Commander.  Seeker considered it an honor to do the dedication for the Veterans Plaza in Fireman’s Park and the F-111 in Henderson Park.

Prior to the program, the VFW Post, located at 1200 East Tom Green Street, will host a Veterans Day breakfast. Doors will open at 7 a.m. and breakfast will be served at 8 a.m.  All veterans, along with their families and friends, are invited to attend the event.  All COVID-19 protocols will be adhered to.

After the program, the WCVA is sponsoring a drive-thru only beef and pork barbecue lunch at American Legion Post 48, at 903 North Park Street.  Meal tickets are available from local veterans groups and at Dan’s Meat Market, Felder’s Buy N Bye, and Robert’s Service Station.  Tickets are $12, and will only be sold in advance.
