BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON DELINQUENT PROPERTY TAX COLLECTION AGREEMENT

A light regular session agenda awaits the Brenham City Council on Thursday.

The two items up for consideration pertain to the collection of delinquent property taxes. The council will consider terminating the city's contract with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP and acting on an interlocal agreement with Brenham ISD, via the Washington County Appraisal District, for those services.

Brenham ISD terminated its contract with Linebarger in November and entered into a new property tax collection agreement with Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott, LLP.

City Secretary Jeana Bellinger wrote in the agenda packet that the city has a separate contract with Linebarger, and city staff recommend ending that contract so that the city's delinquent property taxes can be collected, along with all other taxing entities in Washington County, by Perdue.

Prior to regular session, the city will formally introduce its new Chief Financial Officer, Julie Flagg, and General Manager of Public Utilities, William Bissette. There will also be special recognitions and the reading of a proclamation declaring May 12-18 as National Peace Officers Memorial Week.

Councilmembers will later convene in executive session to consult with the city attorney regarding the Brenham Municipal Airport. No action is expected to be taken.

The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
