AREA HOLIDAY EVENTS CONTINUE THIS WEEKEND

  

With the holidays in full swing, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate the season.

Here are some of the celebrations around the area occurring this weekend:

  • Burton’s Christmas Market and More will feature holiday shopping and several other activities from noon to 4 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum and Roy Winkler Family Pavilion. Guests can browse through various homemade and handmade goods, visit in the Burton Bridge Ministry Fellowship Parlor, decorate their own ornaments, play carnival-style games, win prizes, and enjoy snacks and drinks.  Santa will be available for photos between 1 and 3 p.m., and the Christway Temple Gospel Band will perform from 3 to 4 p.m.  For more information, go online to burtontexas.org/burtonchristmasmarket, or visit the Burton Christmas Market and More 2020 event page on Facebook.

 

  • Chappell Hill has a full day of activities planned tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m. with the Chappell Hill Garden Club’s Christmas Home Tour. Visitors can tour five properties in the Chappell Hill area while enjoying entertainment from the Round Top Ruggers Rug Show.  Tickets can purchased at the Bluebonnet House and Garden Center at 5095 Main Street, or online at chappellhillgardenclub.com.  At 3:30 p.m., families can head downtown for the annual Teddy Bear Parade.  Mrs. Claus will host a story time with snacks, and Santa will visit with children and listen to their Christmas wishes.  To learn more, visit chappellhilltx.com.

 

  • Caldwell’s annual Christmas on the Square celebration gets underway tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m. with music and dance performances. There will also be a lighted parade through downtown beginning around 7 p.m., along with appearances from Santa and the Grinch.  Activities continue tomorrow with a Christmas Market from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring the downtown farmers market, Main Street Market, and arts and craft vendors.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos on the second floor of the Burleson County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  More information is available at burlesoncountytx.com.

 

  • Navasota will host its Home for the Holidays celebration tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m., featuring shopping specials, live music from The Texas 105 Band, a kid’s storybook walk, and free hot chocolate and cookies. The lighted Christmas parade through downtown will start at 6 p.m., followed by the tree lighting and Christmas carols at Navasota City Hall.  The Navasota Public Library will host an art show featuring local artist Robert Goldstein from 1 to 3 p.m.  Visit navasotahomefortheholidays.com for more details.

 

  • A pair of live nativities will be on display this weekend in Washington County. Sunday and Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., Independence Community Events will host Bethlehem in Independence, featuring a live nativity route starting at the town square.  Guests can either walk through the nativity or take hay rides.  After the nativity, hot dogs, cookies, cider, and hot chocolate will be offered.  Santa will make an appearance each night at 6:30 p.m. for photos.  Meanwhile, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill will present a live nativity Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.  The display will feature live animals and Christmas carolers, and refreshments of homemade cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider will be served.  The church is located at 8201 Old Gay Hill Road, off Highway 36 North.

 

  • For anyone who might need help wrapping presents, Brenham Animal Services will be at Puppy Dawgs and Cat Tails tomorrow (Saturday) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. wrapping presents in exchange for donations. Adoptable pets will also be available.  Proceeds will benefit the Brenham Pet Adoption Center.  Puppy Dawgs and Cat Tails is located in Brenham at 321 South Baylor Street.

 

KTEX-106's Trail Boss Troy will be in Caldwell this evening for Christmas on the Square.  Meanwhile, Holly Ryder will be in Chappell Hill tomorrow afternoon for the Teddy Bear Parade, while Blake Hickerson will be in Navasota for the Home for the Holidays celebration.
