BRENHAM, BURTON LIFT BOIL WATER NOTICES
The Cities of Brenham and Burton are no longer under boil water advisories.
After being issued on February 17th, Brenham’s notice was rescinded this (Tuesday) morning, while Burton’s was lifted this afternoon. Lab results provided to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) indicate their water no longer requires boiling prior to use.
Both cities say they have taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water they distribute for drinking or human consumption purposes.
Customers should flush household pipes, ice makers, water fountains and other taps before using them for drinking or cooking. Flushing means letting the water run to ensure there is fresh water flowing through the pipes.
Residents can flush their systems by running all cold water faucets in their home for one minute. Automatic ice makers can be flushed by making three batches of ice and discarding each batch. Water softeners should be run through a regeneration cycle.
