BRENHAM ISD STUDENTS DONATE HUNDREDS OF ITEMS TO AID COMMUNITY DURING WINTER STORM

When the winter storm impacted the Brenham community, many families were left cold and without electricity and water. Students in Kaylee Roznovsky and Sarah Shelnutt's 3rd grade Gateway Class didn’t let the frigid temps stop them from helping their community. The Alton Elementary students coordinated a donation drive for the Bread Partners of Washington County.  The 3rd grade Gateway students were thrilled they were able to donate 833 items.

“It makes me feel happy and proud to be a part of a group that helps others.  It’s always good to help people that can’t help themselves,” said 3rd grade Gateway student Hunter Janner.

Roznovsky added that the donated items came during a time when donations were truly needed. “Many will be stuck at home this week, and Bread Partners will be able to help many and much more than before because of Alton Elementary School,” said Kaylee Roznovsky. “That warms our hearts...even if everything else was freezing outside.”

Keeping the core value lesson of the month—Kindness—in mind, this Brenham ISD teacher led her students to an unforgettable experience by encouraging them to jump into action and make an impact in the lives of others.
