NAVASOTA ISD TO KEEP MASK REQUIREMENTS THROUGH END OF SCHOOL YEAR
Navasota ISD will opt to continue following current COVID-19 protocols and requiring masks for the rest of the school year.
In a statement released on Friday, the school district said the safety measures it has taken this year “have helped curb the spread of COVID-19 on campuses and have contributed to keeping Navasota schools open and learning in person.”
The district’s statement said the mask requirement has helped lessen the number of cases and the number of students and staff that need to quarantine at home due to close contact.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) stated last week that local school boards have the authority to determine their local mask policy.
The district said its school board and administrators will continue to monitor the situation, adding it may modify or eliminate the mask requirement “when the time is right.”
