SOMERVILLE MAN SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN PRISON IN LOCAL DISTRICT COURT

A Somerville man, already serving an 18-year prison sentence in a Rockdale woman’s murder, has been sentenced to eight years in the latest session of 21st District Court.

40-year-old John Wayne Stewart, received an eight-year sentence for his 2016 arrests for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Stewart was sentenced to 18 years for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection with the January 2017 murder of Emily Hacker.  Four others have been sentenced to prison for their parts in the murder.  Hacker burned and beaten body was found in January of 2017 in a shallow grave in the Lyons area.

Also sentenced in District Court, this week:

23-year-old Oshea Johnson of Houston, sentenced to four years in prison for Possession of Controlled Substance.

36-year-old Enrique Laredo Torres of Brenham, sentenced to six months for a 2012 arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

39-year-old Damien Marquet Palmer of San Antonio, placed on three years’ probation for Possession of Controlled Substance – a State Jail Felony.  He was fined $500 and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

48-year-old Robert John Holub of Magnolia, received one years’ probation for Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger.  He was also fined $1500, ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and enter a Victim Impact Program.

49-year-old John David Conwill of Somerville, was sentenced to 107 days in the Washington County Jail for a January arrest for Attempted Possession of a Controlled Substance – a Class A Misdemeanor.
