BRENHAM PLANNING AND ZONING APPROVES REPLAT, FINAL PLAT FOR MANUFACTURED HOME PARK

The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission approved a replat and final plat request from a manufactured home park at its meeting today (Friday).

The commission voted unanimously to allow the park, located next to 2001 FM 389, to remove an estimated 3.2 acre portion of the lot and plat it separately, creating a lot of 9.12 acres.  The lot is identified as Lot 3R of Wehmeyer Acres on the southern tract of the property.

Commissioners also approved a final plat of the Sandalwood subdivision, consisting of 19.89 acres of land, including the separated 3.2 acre portion.  The property owner, Sandalwood Brenham Partners, LLC, is planning an extension of the existing home park on the northern portion of the property with around 30 new manufactured homes.

Project Planner Shauna Laauwe said while the property owner is seeking to expand the existing Sandalwood subdivision, there are currently no defined development plans for Lot 3R.

Development Services Director Stephanie Doland said she does not expect new construction on Lot 3R for some time.

Also at today’s meeting, commissioners heard an update on the proposed historical preservation ordinance, which is being designed to create a decorum in the community where historical preservation is considered a social and economic asset.

The historic preservation committee will meet on May 25th to complete a review of the complete draft ordinance.  A joint work session is scheduled with the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Main Street Board on June 21st.  The Brenham City Council will then hold a work session to discuss the ordinance on July 1st before potentially adopting it at its meeting July 8th.

During her report to the commission, Doland said a food truck task force formed earlier this year will give a presentation to the city council on June 3rd.  The matter of food trucks—and updates to city policies concerning them—has been under review for several months, with the city council discussing the topic at length at a meeting in February.
