WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO HONOR PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENTS AFTER ATTACK ON DPS OFFICE
Washington County Commissioners will take time during their meeting on Tuesday to recognize local public safety officials for their response to the incident at the Brenham DPS Office on April 12th.
The first item on Tuesday’s agenda will be to honor public safety departments “for their bravery and dedicated service during and after the attack on the DPS facility.”
Two victims passed away from injuries sustained as a result of the incident, and several others were hospitalized. The suspect, 42-year-old Clenard Parker of Chappell Hill, remains at the Washington County Jail on numerous charges, including murder.
The court will also recognize the Washington County Historical Commission, which has earned a Distinguished Service Award for its body of work in 2023.
In other business, commissioners will act on going out for bids for the Washington County Expo Sales Facility HVAC system. If approved, bids will be due by 10 a.m. on June 21st and awarded on June 25th.
Other items will include the Engineering and Development Services Department’s quarterly report, appointments to the Brazos Valley Council of Governments Criminal Justice Advisory Committee and potential approval of jail medical staff job descriptions and positions.
An executive session will be held for consultation with the county attorney. Afterwards, commissioners will possibly act on a catch-up contribution to the Texas County & District Retirement System.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.
