BRENHAM ISSUES $93.3 MILLION IN BUILDING PERMITS IN 2021

  

The City of Brenham’s building permits through 2021 were up nearly $2.5 million from 2020.

The city issued a total of 439 permits last year worth $93,309,754, compared to 311 permits for $90,834,963 the year prior.

New homes were by far the largest of all permit categories in 2021.  Last year had 190 permits issued for $34,297,073, more than double 2020’s permit amount of 94 and nearly three times the dollar amount of $12,368,655.

New commercial buildings declined from an impressive 2020 to a more modest total last year, with 21 permits for $15,290,810 in 2021 as opposed to 18 permits for $53,250,541 the previous year.

However, commercial renovations rebounded last year after a dip in 2020.  That category saw 51 permits issued for $12,962,731 in 2021, up from 41 permits for $3,053,560 in 2020.

The largest individual permit in December was issued to Thielemann Construction for $653,392 for a new home in the 2400 block of Oak Hollow Lane.  Nineteen new homes were permitted last month for $3,069,008.

Another notable permit issued last month went to Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union for $644,000 for interior remodeling at their location at 2455 Stringer Street.  Gullo Commercial Construction is the contractor for the project.

The city also issued a $250,000 permit to Meadway Innovative Construction for interior buildout at the Aspen Dental in the Baker Katz shopping center at Highway 290 and Chappell Hill Street.

Throughout the month of December, the city issued 41 permits for $4,498,597.  In December 2020, 25 permits were issued for $5,849,992.
