A traffic stop in Fayette County resulted in a major drug arrest on Sunday.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Sergeant Randy Thumann and his K-9 partner, Kolt, stopped a Toyota Tacoma on I-10 at mile marker 671 at 4:51pm.

After speaking to the driver, 39 year old Eric Olachea from Spring Valley, California, Thumann became suspicious that he might be involved in smuggling illegal narcotics.

He asked for and received consent to search the vehicle. After conducting an exterior sweep of the vehicle, Kolt alerted Thumann to the bed of the truck for the odor of illegal narcotics.

Thumann found and cut open two PVC pipes that contained approximately 15 pounds of methamphetamines, with a street value of $400,000.

Olachea was charged with Felony Drug possession and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange.
