SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL WASHINGTON CO. ENTITIES IN APRIL
Sales and tax distributions for Washington County entities showed moderate increases for the month of April.
Washington County reported an April rebate of $280,903, up 32.59 percent from last April’s payment of $211,843. So far this year, the county has received $1,334,625, a 29.67 percent increase from the $1,029,203 it received through this point a year ago.
Brenham’s April rebate was $643,537, 30.02 percent more than the $494,942 it received last April. The city’s receipts through April 2022 total $2,869,925, up 22.63 percent compared to last year’s payment-to-date of $2,340,252.
Burton’s rebate was up 19.08 percent this month, receiving $6,304 compared to $5,294 last April. Through 2022 so far, the city has received $31,724, an increase of 18.5 percent from a year ago, when it had received $26,769.
According to Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state paid out $866.5 million in local sales tax allocations in April, up 27.9 percent from last April and up 22.1 percent for the year so far.
