TWO AREA BUSINESSES RAISE MONEY TO HELP CAMP HOPE

Two area businesses partnered together for a chili cook-off to raise money to help out Camp Hope of Houston.

Busted Oak Cellars Winery of Carmine and Harley’s Seasonings of Giddings raised $4,388 at the cook-off, which was held at the winery earlier this month.

Camp Hope provides a safe space for victims of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder to experience healing.

The intensive residential program at Camp Hope aims to provide a more comprehensive peer support and mentor-based healing for those who need more than Warrior Groups can provide.

To date, over 1,348 veterans have graduated from their program.

According to Busted Oak Cellars owner Sherrie Cooke, they are planning on making the chili cook-off an annual event.

The second annual chili cook-off will be coming some time in 2023.
